The Fano plane is a diagram that has 3 points for every line
and 3 lines for every point. Fano Club has 3 freedoms and 7
suggestions represented by the Fano plane. The Freedom to:
THINK
about anything at anytime
STAND
up for yourself
- HELP
yourself and others
The Fano plane has 7 points and 7 lines. The 7 suggestions are
a continuous work-in-progress, not in any order, and free to be
used and modified. Consider that:
- The freedom to think is the freedom to consider. Because you are free to
think, you can consider how much you believe in any freedom you choose.
- Standing is not the same as helping. You can help others stand up for themselves,
but you aren't free to stand up for others if they don't need you to.
- You are many. You can consider many things as an extension of yourself, sometimes
including others.
- Truth is essential to thinking. We might not know for sure what truth is, but we believe
keeping someone from it is an infringement on the freedom to think.
- Do no (net) harm to yourself. Always be mindful, but don't let that stop
you from exercising your freedoms.
- The most effective way to stand up for yourself is generally to
equally retaliate against others. You don't need to always stand
up for yourself, but you are free to decide when and how to do so.
- Thinking is not the same as action. Thought is the most personal space of someone, and
no one can intrude on that. On the other hand, all actions have reactions.
As long as you have considered the first freedom, and considered considering
the rest of the freedoms and suggestions, we consider you a member of Fano Club.
